About this framework

Framework period: 1 April 2019 until 31 March 2022 (with option to extend until 30 November 2023)

Scotland Excel’s building and timber framework provides members with a means of purchasing a range of building and timber materials in support of construction projects, ongoing maintenance schedules and ad-hoc repairs. It is recognised for its promotion and support of the use of legal and sustainable timber.

Building on best practice timber sustainability, this fourth-generation framework enhances benefits offered to our members by introducing lots for kitchen units, kitchen worktops and timber window frames. This builds upon a well-established core list of items with dedicated lots for timber doors and door sets, sheet materials, building materials and roofing materials.

As with all our frameworks, this contract was developed in close consultation with an active user intelligence group formed from representatives of Scotland Excel’s membership, and also a consultancy firm who specialise in legal and sustainable timber best practise.

Benefits

This framework reaffirms that Scotland Excel and its members are committed to the UK Government Timber Procurement Policy and ensures that only legal and sustainable timber will be supplied through the framework.
All awarded suppliers are committed to delivering community benefits to any council who exceed preordained spend thresholds.
Includes suppliers committed to delivering rebates to members who choose to spend with them.
Suppliers on the framework represent a mix of company sizes from small local enterprises, manufacturers and large national merchants with branches nationwide.
Three suppliers are accredited Real Living Wage companies, with a further nine paying the Real Living Wage to all staff but are not accredited.
