Since 2008, we have helped to establish procurement as an effective driver for local and national economic growth and wellbeing. Our £2bn portfolio of collaborative contracts supports the delivery of savings, social value, community benefits, fair work practices and environmental policy, and covers a wide range of public services including social care, construction, roads, transport, environment, corporate, education and ICT.

We also provide procurement and consultancy services to help our members get the most from their procurement resources, ranging from ad-hoc tendering support through to transformation programmes and strategic procurement partnerships.

The Scotland Excel Academy offers applied learning programmes leading to accredited qualifications in procurement, leadership and management, coaching and mentoring, project management and business analysis, as well as short courses and workshops.

Scotland Excel is a non-profit organisation working with members from across the public sector including local authorities, health and social care partnerships, housing associations and other public and third sector organisations.

About the role

As a Project and Account Manager you will establish and implement effective stakeholder management with a range of our local authority and associate partners, building relationships at all levels of these organisations. Successful engagement with our partners will promote growing commitment by each organisation across the Scotland Excel Procurement portfolio, the Scotland Excel Academy and Change and Transformation projects. You will also lead and deliver business change projects in line with sector needs and Scotland Excel strategic direction. Core to this role is the support of customers on an on-going basis in relation to key developments in the sector such as legislation, sustainable procurement and supporting local policy and economic objectives.

In addition to the above, you will lead and co-ordinate the representation of Scotland Excel and the local government sector at key meetings, strategic forums and events on a national basis in order to support our joint aims and national objectives.

A key element of this role will be the requirement to support the Commercial Manager in identifying, developing and delivering sustainable opportunities, offering new services which meet customer needs and Scotland Excel’s financial targets.

The role of Project and Account Manager will require an element of travel across Scotland.

What we can offer you

In return, you will have the opportunity to progress your career in a leading procurement organisation operating across a diverse range of category areas. You will work with like-minded colleagues who get real satisfaction from supporting the delivery of essential public services and bringing social, economic and environmental benefits to our communities.

As well as a competitive salary, you will have access to all the benefits of working for a public sector organisation including a defined benefits pension scheme, generous holiday allowance, flexible working and a range of other initiatives which reflect our commitment to creating a positive work-life balance for all our employees.
