The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh delivers world-leading plant science, conservation and education programmes.  Its focus is on accelerating species discovery and proving a knowledge resource, identifying species at imminent risk of extinction, those of particular importance to humankind and diversity in poorly known and threatened areas of the world.  On average each month they describe three plant species new to science.

They develop effective methodologies to accelerate and enhance characterisation of the planet’s biodiversity using DNA data to unravel species relationships, providing a fascinating insight into the evolution and ecology of the world's plants.
