TotsBots designed reusable period products that could reduce up to 11,000 single-use items per person

We spoke with Fiona Smyth, Founding Director of Tots Bots Ltd (& NORA) a supplier on our Washroom solutions and sanitary products framework on the importance of making choices that have a positive impact on the environment.

Fiona told us: “The mission of Tots Bots is to make the best reusable nappies and reusable period products in the world, in the kindest way possible, inspiring and enabling people to make choices that have a positive environmental impact for the future of the planet. One small change at a time.

“At the start of the new school year we handed out more than 6600 giftbags to P7 and S1 schoolgirls in Glasgow. Each one contained a reusable day pad and one reusable night pad in a little wash bag.

“All products were designed and manufactured in our factory in Glasgow using a combination of Oekotex certified fabrics, organic cotton and fabrics made from recycled plastic bottles.

“Normalising reusable period pants and pads right at the start of menstruation and advocating for a shift away from disposable products can collectively prevent the consumption of 11,000 single-use items over the lifetime of every person who makes the switch.

Choosing to use reusable sanitary products has a significant long-term positive environmental impact and we are extremely proud to be a supplier to Scotland Excel.”

Laura Muir, Strategic Procurement Manager at Scotland Excel said: "We always try to work with suppliers that think sustainably, and this initiative not only provides environmentally friendly products, it also helps to raise the awareness of the free period products act, breaking down the stigmas around period poverty."
