New framework will help councils source vital services for care and support at home
A total of 152 care providers are participating in the six-year arrangement
Scotland Excel has launched the second generation of the national care & support framework encompassing care at home and supported living services.
The arrangement enables participating councils and Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs) to arrange important care and support services which help support people to live independently.
A total of 152 care providers are participating in the six-year arrangement. The providers offer a range of care and support services across Scotland which play a significant role in supporting people to live within the community and to improve their quality of life.
Hugh Carr, Scotland Excel’s Director of Strategic Procurement and Commissioning said: “I welcome the launch of the second-generation framework for care and support services. The new framework offers an opportunity for Scotland Excel to work collaboratively with providers, local government colleagues and other key stakeholders to develop and share best practice.
“The range of services offered will support councils and HSCPs in the vital work they do to commission services for people. The framework adopts the national self-directed support policy principles - helping people to achieve the best possible quality of life, in terms of personal aspirations, choices and abilities; enabling people to live independently and safely within their own home for as long as possible. The services also support Scottish Government ambitions for prevention of early admission to hospital and enables early supported discharge.
“We have made sure ethical commissioning principles for adult social care underpin the framework and hope it contributes to a stronger, more sustainable network of care services for Scotland.”
