Scotland Excel Conference 2024

Our annual conference for the public sector is back and is shaping up to be our best yet

Scotland Excel’s annual conference 2024 will take place online on Wednesday 22 May, with a focus on ‘being commercial’.

The event is free of charge and will bring a packed day of thought provoking discussions for public sector professionals.

The conference is open to delegates from the Scottish local government sector, as well as other organisations with a community focus such as housing associations, transport partnerships and leisure trusts.

We’ve lined up a host of fantastic guest speakers:

Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) will join us to discuss competition and the needs of Scottish consumers, bid-rigging support for public professionals and competition assessment training.

Martyn Wallace from the Digital Office will talk to delegates about technology - the need of “interoperability” and thinking differently as a wider public sector.

Crown Commercial Services will host a session, focusing on commercial agreements that support public sector banking requirements - to drive innovation and value for money.

Mo Baines, Chief Executive from Association for Public Service Excellence will join us to discuss different aspects of commercial work from small trade in local services to heavy investment in assets. Mo will explore the public policy conundrums between ‘profit for a purpose’ to reinvest in local services or taking decisions which could be costly.

And Alastair Young, Associate Director, Net Zero Transport, from Scottish Futures Trust will speak to delegates about: Our Journey to Net Zero – reflections from the Electric Vehicle Charging Sector.
