About this framework

Framework period: 25 August 2021 to 31 July 2024

Scotland Excel’s education materials framework provides members with easy and efficient access to a variety of educational materials including arts and crafts, board, card and paper, exercise books, homework diaries, science equipment and sports equipment. It is one of a long-standing portfolio of education frameworks used by schools, nurseries and community groups.

This framework has been developed to meet the needs of individual learners including Higher and Advanced Higher pupils and those with additional support needs.

As with all our frameworks, this framework was developed in close consultation with key stakeholders. It is fully compliant with all legislative requirements and was developed in line with Scotland Excel’s sustainable procurement approach.

Benefits

All councils are participating in the framework.
Lot 1 created as a “one-stop-shop” for councils that wish to consolidate their spend.
76% of suppliers are SMEs.
All 21 suppliers are committed to providing Community Benefits.
16 suppliers pay Real Living Wage.
Sustainable measures such as:
- A ‘zero waste to landfill’ status.
- ‘On demand’ packaging solution meaning all cartons are perfectly made to size.
- Working with market leaders in an aim to become climate neutral by 2025 and fully business neutral by 2030.
- Reducing single use plastics and moving to biodegradable products where possible.

The education materials framework has been developed to support the Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) and its four capacities of successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.
