About this framework

Framework period: 9 January 2023 until 8 January 2026 with the option to extend for
a period of up to 12 months until 8 January 2027

Scotland Excel’s first aid material framework will provide councils and other participating bodies with a mechanism to follow the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and to procure a range of first aid materials for the workplace and the community. The framework will include first aid kits, gloves, ice & heat packs, wipes & tissues, hand sanitiser & soap, dressings & plasters, and other associated products.

The framework is fully compliant with all legislative requirements and offers social, economic and environmental benefits in line with Scotland Excel’s sustainable procurement approach.

Benefits

  • All 32 councils have confirmed their intention to participate in this framework
  • Fixed pricing for first 12 months
  • The three suppliers awarded to the framework represent a mix of company sizes – one large and two small businesses
  • Suppliers have committed to minimising the environmental impact of their operations, particularly in relation to:
    • the supply chain
    • transportation
    • waste
  • All suppliers will deliver community benefits which are reflective of the Scottish Government’s National Outcomes
  • All of the suppliers pay the Scottish Living Wage, one supplier is an accredited living wage employer
