Free Webinar on Procurement risk available to book
Find out how serious organised crime, price fixing and cartels pose a risk to procurement
Scotland Excel will join forces with the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and Scottish Government to bring the public sector a free webinar on Monday 10 October 2022.
The two-part session is tailored for Scotland’s public procurement community, to equip them with the most up-to-date knowledge from both organisations:
- Session 1 - Your introduction to what serious organised crime (SOC) is and how it can affect public procurement.
- Session 2 - How to identify and report anti-competitive practices in public procurement that can increase prices by 20% or more.
Scotland is a leader in public procurement, ensuring that money spent by the public sector delivers economic, social and environmental benefits for our communities.
In any industry sector where large scale financial transactions take place, there’s opportunity for criminal activity by organised crime groups.
Unfortunately in the world of business, illegal anti-competitive practices among suppliers can creep in, undermine competition and deprive procurers of true value for money.
After this webinar, you'll have an awareness of what serious and organised crime is, the current issues facing Scotland and how serious organised crime groups (SOCGs) work to infiltrate public sector supply chains.
You will also be able to identify common bid-rigging red flags and understand bid-rigging, where suppliers get together to decide among themselves who will win a contract - depriving public procurers of true value for money.
Places for the virtual event are limited, so please avoid disappointment by booking your space.
